School History:

Morehouse is a private, independent, four-year liberal arts college for men. It was founded in 1867 in Augusta, Georgia as the Augusta Institute.  Morehouse has recently expanded its facilities and programs, and still holds true to its mission to educate and nurture black male leadership. The nation’s only historically all black-male college feels a special responsibility for teaching its students about the history and culture from which this institution was born. This commitment to develop men with disciplined minds who will lead lives of leadership, service, and self-realization is evident in the fact that Morehouse has the distinct legacy of granting more college degrees upon black males than any other institution in the world.
